Government Certificate Authority

ICT Authority was  licensed as the Certification Authority  in 2020 by the Communications Authority who is the regulator and the Root Certification Authority. The ICT Authority herein referred to as Government Certification Authority (GovCA) is responsible for provision  of PKI services  to the Registration Authorities(RA) and its  subscribers.

About NPKI   

National Public Key Infrastructure(NPKI) is a system that is used to secure electronic communication, online transactions. It ensures data integrity and  confidentiality. NPKI uses a combination of public and private keys to secure the exchange of information and to verify the identity of the parties involved in a transaction.

The NPKI ecosystem comprises digital certificates, protocols, services, Certificate Authorities(CA), and Registration Authorities(RA). The ecosystem is supported by established  laws and regulations.

Digital Certificate Issuance

Digital ID or e-certificate, is a form of electronic identification that is used to authenticate the identity of an individual or organization.

Digital Certificate Renewal

Renewing a certificate is the process of extending the validity period. It means creating a new certificate with the same name, key, and other information as the old one, but with a new, extended validity period and a new serial number. 

Digital Certificate Re-keying

The process of re-keying a certificate involves creating a new certificate with a different public key (and serial number and key identifier) while retaining the remaining contents of the old certificate that describe the subject. 

Digital Certificate Modification

Modifying a certificate means creating a new certificate that has the same key, a different serial number, and that differs in one or more other fields from the old certificate.

Digital Certificate Revocation

Certificate revocation refers to the process of rendering a digital certificate invalid before its expiration date. This means the digital certificate cannot be trusted or used for signing.

Digital Certificate Verification

Digital certificate verification is the process of confirming the authenticity and integrity of a digital certificate.
